Campus Alpha recognised
for environmental excellence
CAMPUS
Alpha, CBDRobina’s newest office building, has been recognised for environmental
excellence, receiving a Four Star Greenstar Design rating, the national
benchmark for superior environment-friendly design.
The $25 million Campus Crescent building follows in the footsteps of
CBDRobina’s The Rocket, a $110 million, 16-level office tower now under
construction and the first Gold Coast City office building to gain the accreditation.
The rating, granted by
the Green Building Council of Australia, reflects an
exhaustive design process that puts features, fixtures and fittings, systems
and compliance monitoring arrangements in place to minimise a building’s carbon
footprint and provide a healthy work environment.
Campus Alpha was completed in January and, like The Rocket,
its design maximises natural light, minimises energy consumption for heating
and cooling, and provides an optimum-quality indoor environment by delivering
clean air to all areas.
Rainwater is harvested and used for flushing toilets and
landscape irrigation, double-glazing is in place to reduce heat, and Campus
Alpha’s design and materials minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
Construction products and fixtures and fittings have been selected
to minimise the building’s impact on the environment and to obviate the
emission of air pollutants.
The building is
water-efficient, has energy-efficient lighting and incorporates waste
management and recycling systems.
Campus Alpha is 85 per cent leased and is home to
Queensland State Government departments and a range of other enterprises
including specialist private education facility Mackintosh College, which
teaches hospitality industry skills, including chef training, as well as
hairdressing and business management skills.
The three level
building provides 4,500 squares metres of floorspace and sits on a 3,500 square
metre site with ongrade parking in Investigator Drive, close to Robina Station
and the Pacific Motorway.
Campus Alpha, The Rocket and its companion project, The Wharf, are developments
undertaken by Robina Projects Australia whose other CBDRobina projects include
the A-grade office buildings HQ @ Robina and Eastside, which incorporate
extensive environment-friendly features.
RPA General Manager Hylton Slater said the company, a
leader in the field of environment-aware design, was committed to converting
‘green’ ideals into reality.
“The achievement of Four Star Greenstar Design ratings
first by The Rocket and now by Campus Alpha are testament to our determination
to create healthy work environments in buildings that make a real contribution
to reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.
“To achieve the benchmark rating, RPA undertakes a lengthy
design process in which every component of the building, from materials to
floorplans and fixtures and fittings, is considered in the context of our desire
for a truly ‘green’ outcome.
“The general community’s concern about climate change is
shared by the corporate sector and many businesses are keen to make a
contribution to sustainability by reducing their carbon footprints.
“Environment-friendly workspaces and work practices are now
viewed as an important element of good business planning and there is
increasing demand in the market for premises that enable businesses to achieve
these objectives.
“Campus Alpha and The Rocket meet the needs of this market
by providing environment-friendly office premises in an easy-to-access location
at the geographic heart of Australia’s
fastest-growing city.
“The appeal of ‘green’ design combined with an
easy-to-access, central-city location is borne out by the strong leasing outcome
achieved by Campus Alpha.
“Both Campus Alpha and The Rocket provide high-quality ‘green’ spaces in
an attractive central-city business precinct with inner-city-style homes and extensive
retail and dining facilities at hand aimed at providing both workstyle and
lifestyle features.
Located within walking distance is Robina Town Centre, where the first
two stages of a major expansion and refurbishment have recently opened
cementing its title of Gold Coast City’s premier shopping destination.”
Campus Alpha is
the debut building in Campus Crescent, a 3-hectare precinct bounded by Robina
Town Centre Drive, Laver Drive and Investigator Drive that will feature
buildings up to eight storeys for businesses that benefit from an open,
campus-style environment.
It is directly
opposite the Robina hospital and train station and only minutes from the M1
motorway and the Robina Town Centre.
Campus Alpha is
being marketing by Marcus Weld of Robina Marketing Australia, who said the
leasing success reflects the popularity of the expanding CBDRobina business hub
and the reputation of their developer for the delivery of high-quality
facilities.
“Businesses
recognise that CBDRobina blends exceptional commercial and retail amenities
with residential components to create an attractive and alluring environment.”
He said
“Businesses have
on their doorstep a selection of neutral meeting places, such as restaurants
and coffee shops and staff have the benefit of a broad range of retail and
recreational facilities.
“Its extensive
road, bus and rail links to other areas of the city and the fact it is only a
two-minute drive from the Pacific Motorway, add further to CBDRobina’s appeal.
“Whether it be a
corporation requiring a large floorplate or a business person wanting a small,
prime location office, Campus Alpha, The Rocket and The Wharf offer spaces and ambiences
to meet every need.”
